Tutorial 3: Download and Install Django

Download site and install instructions: https://www.djangoproject.com/download/
Tutorial used to install: https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/intro/install/

Here I downloaded the latest stable official version django 1.4.3 because it is recommended for beginners. Following the instructions, I “untar” the downloaded file using Terminal. Then using “sudo” I installed django into python. See that django was installed into the python 2.7 folder in Library. This means that there are additional Django source files I will need to include in my python path. But we will do that later in tutorial 5 , where we will integrate Django in Eclipse.

We now proceed to Quick Install Guide. We will skip setting up a large database for now. At this point, I have already installed Django. So I do not need to reinstall Django. I proceed to verify that Django is already installed:Screen Shot 2012-12-28 at 10.47.32 AM
